Gluten-Free Peach Crisp Ingredients & Substitutions

You only need a handful of simple, wholesome ingredients to bring this crisp to life. The filling is juicy and just sweet enough, while the topping is buttery, crumbly, and crisped to golden perfection.

Peach Filling

  • Peaches – Use ripe, juicy peaches for the best texture and flavor. Frozen peaches also work (just thaw and drain first).
  • Granulated sugar – Adds sweetness and draws out the juices. You can use organic cane sugar or monk fruit.
  • Gluten-free flour – Thickens the fruit mixture into a syrupy filling. If you are not gluten-free, regular all-purpose flour works perfectly.
  • Milk – Creates a creamy, smooth filling. Use the type of milk that best suits your dietary needs. The higher fat content, the better.

Crisp Topping

  • Gluten-free rolled oats – Classic crisp texture and a hearty bite. Use regular rolled oats if you are not gluten-free.
  • Gluten-free flour – Helps form a crumbly, golden crust.
  • Brown sugar – Sweetens and caramelizes beautifully. Substitute coconut sugar, monk fruit, or a sugar alternative like Swerve.
  • Butter – Salted butter gives the best flavor. Use plant-based butter for a vegan twist.
  • Vanilla extract – Adds warmth and depth.
  • Sea salt – Enhances every flavor note.
  • Almonds or walnuts (optional) – Adds crunch and nuttiness.

How to Make Gluten-Free Peach Crisp

This crisp couldn’t be easier to throw together. With just a few simple steps and a little time in the oven, you’ll have a golden, bubbling dessert that’s full of warm peachy goodness.

  1. Prep the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F. Set an 8×8-inch baking pan on a cookie sheet and set aside.
  2. Make the Filling: In a large bowl, toss the sliced peaches with milk, sugar, gluten-free flour, and lemon juice until evenly coated. Pour the mixture into your prepared baking pan.
  3. Mix the Topping: In the same bowl, combine the oats, gluten-free flour, brown sugar, butter, vanilla, salt, and nuts (if using). Stir until the mixture resembles coarse, sandy crumbs.
  4. Assemble & Bake: Evenly sprinkle the topping over the peaches and bake for 40–50 minutes. Look for bubbling edges and a golden, crisp top.
  5. Cool & Serve: Let the crisp cool for at least 10-15 minutes to allow the juices to thicken. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or a drizzle of caramel sauce.

Helpful Tips & Tricks

A few simple tips can take your peach crisp from good to can’t-stop-eating-it level. These will help you get the perfect texture and flavor every time.

  • Fresh is Best: Super-ripe peaches = juicier filling. If using canned or frozen, be sure to drain well.
  • Let it Rest: Allow the crisp to cool for 10-15 minutes before serving—it sets up beautifully!
  • Make Ahead: Bake in advance, then reheat individual portions in the microwave. Or prep the crisp and keep it covered in the fridge until ready to bake.
  • Topping Swaps: Substitute almond flour or coconut sugar if desired for different flavors.
