Chocolate Chip Sprinkle Cookies Ingredients & Substitutions
This recipe was tested with regular, gluten-free, and vegan ingredients. Here are the important ingredient alternatives or swaps so that everyone can enjoy a cookie.
Flour: Use all-purpose or gluten-free flour 1:1 baking blend containing xanthan gum.
Sugar: This recipe calls for both brown and granulated white sugar. This specific combination creates the perfect texture and taste. Substitute granulated sugar with organic cane sugar, coconut sugar, or monkfruit, but it will change the texture and taste.
Butter: Salted brick-style butter in any format, plant-based or regular, will work. Coconut oil can also be used, but the flavor profile will change.
Egg: If you are egg-free or vegan, substitute with one flax egg. A flax egg is 1 tablespoon of ground flax mixed with 3 tablespoons of warm water. Allow this mixture to thicken for 5 minutes before using.
Chocolate Chips: Any chocolate chip (ie. milk, semi-sweet, dark, etc.) will work in the format that best suits your dietary needs. I used plant-based semi-sweet mini chocolate chips.
Sprinkles: Use confetti or jimmie-only style sprinkles. Do not use nonpareils (the little tiny balls); they will melt into the cookie dough. Double-check the ingredients to ensure they are gluten-free, nut-free, and/or vegan if needed. I used these gorgeous rainbow colored sprinkles.

Sprinkle Chocolate Chip Cookies Step-By-Step Instructions
You’ll need a stand or electric mixer, a mixing bowl, a spatula, parchment paper, and 2 large cookie sheets.
- Preheat the oven to 350ºF and prepare 2 cookie sheets with parchment paper.
- Cream the butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar on high for 2 minutes.
- Add in the egg and vanilla extract and mix until combined.
- Measure in the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt and mix until a dough forms.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips and sprinkles until just combined.
- With a large 3 tablespoon cookie scoop, scoop the cookie dough 2-3 inches apart onto the prepared cookie sheet. If desired, top each cookie with additional sprinkles and chocolate chips.
- Bake for 9-11 minutes or until the edges are set and the center is slightly underbaked. Be careful not to overbake. Let fully cool on the cookie sheet. Enjoy!
Pro Tip: Want a perfectly round cookie? Press errant cookie edges, melted chocolate chips, and/or sprinkles in with a butter knife as soon as they are out of the oven and still hot.

Chocolate Chip Sprinkle Cookies Tips & Tricks
Flour Measurement: Dry crumbly cookies are often caused by improper flour measurement. If not measuring by weight, which I highly recommend, spoon, not scoop, the flour out of the container and into the measuring cup.
Scrape the Bowl: During the mixing process, scrape the sides of the bowl several times to ensure all the butter is properly aerated.
Baking Time: To keep these cookies chewy, do not over-bake them. You want the edges to be set and the center to look slightly underbaked. If they are hard or dark golden, you have baked the cookies too long.
Oven Location: I recommend baking cookies one sheet at a time in the middle rack; this allows the heat to circulate evenly around the cookies.

It doubles, triples, and even quadruples like a dream! Bonus: You can half it, too. Whisk the egg (or flax egg) in a small bowl, use half of it in the recipe, and save the other half for breakfast.
Can I Make These Cookies Smaller?
You can use a smaller 1½ tablespoon cookie scoop for these amazing sprinkled chocolate chip cookies. Keep the oven temperature at 350ºF and check at the 8-minute mark.

How To Store Chocolate Chip Cookies with Sprinkles
These adorably delicious chocolate chip funfetti cookies are a dream to freeze. They are good frozen for up to 3 months. Alternatively, put them in an airtight container and store them at room temperature for up to 5 days.
Pro Tip: Want the softest cookies even on day 5? Put a slice of gluten-free bread (or regular bread if you are not making it gluten-free) in an airtight container. The cookies will absorb the moisture from the bread and remain incredibly soft.

3T and only 9-11 minutes. Also it shows 1 1/2 T cookie scoop. Do you put one in top of the other? Thanks
Hi Sue, the recipe uses a 3T scoop for 9-11 minutes but I do list a variation if you want smaller cookies (1.5T) which you would bake for 8 minutes.
